I'm in love with the City....

Well it's been a nice Lazy sunday after a weekend of debauchery with the help of Sir Kent and my lovely flatmates. And next weekend is going to be even worse, England v. USA on the eve of my 21st Birthday! Huzzah! We girls are going to hit the sports pubs.
On another note, school starts tomorrow. I have my internship class and Survey of British Muesuems- I know it's gonna be rough. I also start my internship on Wednesday! ohhh boy. I'm nervous right now but by then I hope to be excited. I can't believe where I'm working.... Mammoth Records with production time at Abbey Roads Studios! And Abbey Road is oh... 8 blocks from my flat. It's all sorts of lovely to muse about who I could meet in this predicament.
Anyway Here are some pictures from my first weekend in London. These are taken by my little digital not by my pretty SRL, those will be put up later I promise. But for now:

Here is Kent at the Camden Head in Camden.

This is the bedroom part of my flat. I'm sure you can all picture a bathroom so I didn't include any pictures of my tiny little toilet/shower/sink style bathroom.

This is the view from my window.
I'm in love with the city. More to come. XOXOX

First night out (forgive any spelling or grammatical errors please)

My lovely, lovely gorey chums,
I am writing this after my first real night out in Londontown, compliments of a very fine gentlemen named Kent Coupe who obliged me in many a beer (he partook himself) and we ended up having one of the best conversations over a period of 5-6 hours that I have had all trip.
The problem seems to be that I am surrounded by girls who are studying fashion.... and I don't mean high fashion like the girls we see at LC or anywhere. These girls think forever 21 is couture and vintage shopping is a sin. Well dearests.... unfortunately the stereotype is quite right and the AE/ forever 21 girls don't have an interesting thought in their heads... I have met a great girl who is also studying aspects of media and production, but it's a bit disheartening to find myself in the middle of my favourite city with a bunch of ambercromie clad boys (6 boys actually....) and tons of California or Michigan girls who couldn't tell high fashion from a hole in the bloody wall- or are as interesting as a bloody hole in the wall.
Anyway, that's not all bad- I'm living in a combined flat with 3 other girls and I really lucked out because they are all nice and interesting people.
Also I had a brilliant night with my friend Kent in 2 different pubs talking about all walks of life and literature and history. So to you dearest Kent... Huzzah as we both say in the old country.
Anyway, there will be pictures soon, my flat is of course pink, but lovely none the less, and we went on a walking tour of London today which was absolutely beautiful (ohhh Winston Churchill I bask in your glory.
I will write more tomorrow or monday after my classes begin and I am completely sober.
All my love, and please do a round for my well being,
E

This Time Tomorrow

Where will we be? On a space ship somewhere, sailing across an empty sea?

Well yes, actually. Tomorrow at this time I will be over the sea, on my merry way to Londontown. I don't know what to do with myself at this moment. I said my bon voyages to my lovely friends Krista and Dane of Green River today and I tried to avoid getting my mum crying all on about me leaving. I feel like I'm growing up, and I am looking back.
What I mean is, I can sense my every movement is sharper with more thought, I can feel myself expanding like a black hole or something. Not that I want my pre-departure feelings to be analogous to a black hole, that sounds rather depressing to be honest. But I am also hoping I'm not putting all my hopes into this basket of working in London, the city I dream about and the city that I love most. I want this to be a great time, but it's almost like I have set expectations already... which makes me wary.
Anyway, it doesn't matter much, I'm going tomorrow and however much I think about my future in the end I will get off the plane, go to my flat and the rest is unknown. HOORAY ADVENTURE!
For all those interested in sending me snail mail (which is expensive and unnecessary!) my address is:
1-45 College Grove, London, NW1 0RW, the flat number is still currently unknown- but I'm working on that.
Also I have no choice but to take one course for the first half of the program (most interns take 2/3 classes and an intro to internship, whereas I had plenty of credit and am just doing the internship). That class to my delight is Survey of British Museums! Really it seems all too perfect right now.
I will be posting picture very soon, of the flat and of London in all it's glory. Wish me happy travels. Can't wait to talk to you all on the other side!
And because my puppy (she's 10) is sitting at the end of my bed waiting for me to go to sleep- so
goodnight!

Come back here and I'll bite your legs off!

I love foreign films, and I do consider British films foreign because even in a place like Portland, sometimes the Brit-films don't make it to the theatres, when American crap overflows the box office (Zohan... puhlease).
So, I just saw Inglorious Basterds, and I have to say I was impressed, even if I covered my eyes for the gore and shoot-outs. It was American made I know but the french countryside cinematography reminded me of La Regle du Jeu by Jean Renoir; 1939. So here is a list of my top 10 favourite foreign films.

12. Les Enfants du Paradis (Marcel Carne; 1945)

11. Det sjunde inseglet or the Seventh Seal (Ingmar Bergman; 1958)

10. Dil Se (Mani Ratnam; 1998)

9. Les Invasions Barbares or the Barbarian Invasions(Denys Arcand; 2003)

8. La Vita e Bella or Life Is Beautiful (Roberto Benigni; 1997)

7. The Wind that Shakes the Barley (Ken Loach; 2006)

6. Ladi Di Biciclette or The bicycle Thieves (Vittorio De Sica; 1948)

5. Das Leben der Anderen or The Lives of Others(Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck; 2006)

4. Le Fabuleux Destin D'Amelie Poulain or Amelie(Jean-Pierre Jeunet; 2001)

3. El Laberinto Del Fauno or Pan's Labyrinth (Guillermo del Toro; 2006)

2. La Dolce Vita (Federico Fellini; 1960)

1. Il Buono, Il brutto, Il Cattivo or The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly (Sergio Leone; 1966)

Hope you enjoy my picks. I didn't include summaries about each because [1] I want you all to watch them for yourselves and [2] it's 2 am and I am not entirely sure why I am still awake.
On that note, happy viewing! Good night and good luck.

In ignorance I await my own surprise

I love quotes. They articulate thoughts in a sentence or less, something I cannot do, even if I tried. Besides I read enough to quote lines that are actually relevant. Which brings me to my point... as I'm sure you, my blog followers or whatever you are technically called, know that I will be shipping myself to London in less than a month. And I am completely ignorant of what awaits me.
Which is why I am starting a blog. If I'm going to be surprised I'd like to be surprised with you. So here hoping to a great summer for you and me.
